The President of this Company
directs me to say to the people of lower East Tennessee and of
Whitfield county, Georgia, that if their County Courts will take the
steps necessary to buy and distribute among the people at
cost the quantity of Salt that the proprietors of the Virginia
Salt Works allot to the above counties, this Company will transport
the same over their Road free of charge for either freight or labor.
Salt can now be procured at the Works for the above purpose, at one
dollar per bushel. |
Let me urge the importance of
immediate action on the part of the County Courts, in this vital
emergency. |
