Railroad Accident |
A train loaded with troops ran
off the track four or five miles above Athens {on
the East Tennessee & Georgia RR}, on Wednesday, and a
female, disguised in soldier’s garb, who was on one of the
platforms, was so badly injured that she died in a few hours. When her
sex was discovered, she gave her name as Lizzie Knight, and stated
that she belonged in Tallapoosa county, Alabama. The heavy and
incessant rains have so impaired the road bed and track that run-offs
are becoming rather frequent. |
