The Manassas Gap Railroad |
The Rockingham Register says:
Messrs. Tomay & Good, Contractors on the section of the Manassas Gap
Railroad running into Harrisonburg, are to go ahead with and finish
their work, notwithstanding somebody has said to them "stop." "Stop
work," are words not found in their vocabulary. They have not a very
large capital of ready money; but their capital of energy, determination
and integrity is perfectly ample to carry them through. So their work on
the Manassas Gap Railroad will be finished at once, money or no money.
If Messrs. Tomay & Good can hasten the arrival of the cars into
Harrisonburg, in time for the present large crop of wheat now growing,
they intend to do it! They will soon be ready for more work, and if
their services are wanted, money or no money, they will put another
section or two through forthwith if not sooner. We now feel assured that
the completion of the road, at an early period, is now a fixed fact, as
industrious, energetic contractors can't be stopped. |
