The Manassas Gap Notes |
We learn from the President of
the Manassas Gap Railroad Company that our notice of the notes issued by
that Company would give an erroneous impression of their character. They
are not notes of circulation "but customary due bills, issued to
contractors in payment for work done, bearing interest, and payable six
months from date. The contractors wanted them in small sums, to suit the
hands, of whom there were a great number, claiming small amounts, and
were printed to save trouble. The company would on no account issue a
"circulation." |
