Fortifying |
In view of the numerous raids
to which the Macon & Western railroad has recently been subjected
by raiding parties of the enemy, the military authorities here are
erecting fortifications, and call for hands from the citizens to push
the work to speedy completion. Our worthy and patriotic Mayor, is
undertaking to get these hands by patriotic appeals, which ought to be
sufficient in a crisis like this. We trust it will not be necessary to
resort to impressments. Let every man patriotically and voluntarily
send up his hands to the Mayor's Office, who offers every guaranty in
his power that justice will be done them, and that they will be well
taken care of. |
