The engine
"Sunshine" which blew up near Lovejoy's station on the Macon
& Western Railroad on Monday, was the same machine turned out at
the shop of the Company in this city a month or more ago. It was
thought then to be a perfect work of mechanism, but we presume that
some flaw or defect in the boiler was unfortunately left when it was
constructed. It is hoped that the Company will not be discouraged by
the unfortunate termination of their first effort. The next time they
will be certain to make a more perfect machine. |
