Yankee Raid on Decherd's Station |
Special Dispatch to the
Atlanta Intelligencer |
|
Chattanooga, June, 30 |
Five hundred of the enemy's
cavalry made a raid on Decherd's Station {on the
Nashville & Chattanooga RR} yesterday, from Manchester.
They tore up the track, burnt the depot and destroyed the water tanks.
They were driven back by the guard and citizens, who shot at them from
all points. Several trains of troops were on the way to Tullahoma at
the time, and hearing of which, the enemy scattered. |
The track has been relaid, and
the cars passed over safe. |
