Railway Distances |
Mr. Superintendent Frost, of
the Southern Division Mississippi Central Railroad, sends us for
publication the following table of railroad distances: |
1. Between New Orleans and
Humboldt, Tennessee, via Grand Junction -- New Orleans to Canton, 206
miles; Canton to Jackson, Tennessee 235 miles; Jackson, Tennessee to
Humboldt, Tennessee, 16 miles -- Total, 457 miles. |
2. Via Mississippi &
Tennessee Railroad -- New Orleans to Canton, 256 miles; Canton to
Grenada, 87 miles; Grenada to Memphis, 100 miles; 1 1/2 miles omnibus
ride, 1 1/2 miles; Memphis to Humboldt, 32 miles -- Total, 476 1/2
miles. Mississippi Central route, 457 miles; excess of Memphis route,
19 1/2 miles, with an omnibus ride of 1 1/2 miles through Memphis. |
