Railroad Bridge |
The bridge across the
Chattahoochee for the passage of the S. W. {South
Western} Railroad trains to Eufaula, is fast approaching
completion. Placed in the hands of numerous contractors, each of whom
failed to comply with the requirements of the company, it was al last
entrusted to that able and skillful architect of our city, Mr. Geo. W.
Whipple, a gentleman who has no such work as "Fail" in his
vocabulary. Taking charge of it at a time when it was almost
impossible to obtain the materials necessary for its construction, he
has nevertheless pressed on, until even the most skeptical see signs
of its speedy completion. We congratulate the company, our citizens
and the traveling public on the good fortune that secured his
inestimable services. |
