Macon and Augusta Railroad |
Judging from the carts,
negroes and implements which have passed through here during the past
week, we should say that the contractors on this road are determined
to put the work through in a short time. Col. Lockett, of Bibb, has
the contract from the Oconee to the city, two miles, and is pushing
the work on vigorously. War times do not stop enterprising men like
Lockett, Orr, Jossey & Thompson. The Macon and Augusta Railroad is
a fixed fact. |
{The work being done
was on the Milledgeville RR, a link in the Macon to
Augusta line. Work appears to have stopped in late 1862 for lack of
iron.} |
