Dr Sir,
|
My purpose in writing is to interest you in behalf of
my son in law, Mr. W H Shaw, who has for some time been acting for
the Govt as Transpn. Agt at Kingsville SC. Until lately he has been
agent of the Wilmn & Manchester RRd Co. at that place, but is
now not in the service of that Co. I have understood that he was to
be superceded, but hope it is not so, as it would leave him without
employment & force him into the army. His health is such that
exposure would soon prostrate him. I think he could be very useful
where he is, as he is familiar with RRd operations & being a
good business man, I believe he will make himself very serviceable
& aid you materially in forwarding from that point & I know
his undivided efforts will be turned in that direction. If this
appointment is under your Bureau & you can ??ly aid him I shall
properly appreciate the act. If not & you will bring it to the
attention of the Qr Master Genl. you will much oblige me. The family
of Mr Shaw are with me, but he will reside permanently at Kingsville
if required, or repair to any other point should it be demanded.
