Enclosed you will find a claim presented
me by the Winchester & Potomac R. R. Co. for settlement. I have
the honor to present it for your instructions in the matter. From
paper marked no 1, you will find a receipt from Capt. T. R. Sharp A.
Q. M. for iron to the amt of $15005 50/100 on account of the wagonage
of certain rails which were previously furnished the rail-road Co on
contract, the cost of which wagonage was due from the Comp'y to the
Gov't. For the payment of this wagonage the rails were taken, but from
paper marked no. 2, you will perceive that the cost of wagonage
amounted to less than $15005 50/100, leaving a balance of $6367 50/100
still due the Company. I respectfully request authority to pay said
amount. |
I am, Gen'l, with great respect |
