My friend Maj. Jas. S. Turner will hand you this. For
several years he has resided in this place as Chief Engineer of the W.
N. C. R. {Western North Carolina RR} |
Under his superintendence the Road was located, &
constructed, and it is conceded on all hands that it will favorably
compare with any Road in the Confederacy. The Major is desirous of
devoting all his time, and talents, to the cause of the South, in
which his two only sons have been actively and honorably engaged since
the commencement of the War, one of which now languishes in Prison
from wounds received at the hard fought battle of Gettysburg. It
affords me much pleasure to recommend him to the favorable
consideration of your department for any position requiring Engineer
skill, industry & efficiency. |
I have the honor to be most resly &c |
