I enclose you invoices of two
rifled guns sent from Charleston to Memphis. General Johnston is of
opinion that these guns may be detained on the road, and that it is not
improbable that other heavy guns are likewise detained on the road from
Richmond, which you may have heretofore called for and he therefore
advises you to ascertain the facts by the use of the telegraph or an
agent and if found, to require their immediate transmission. |
