Dear Sir, |
Yours of the 16th Inst is
received in which you express a reluctance to call a convention of the
Virginia Rail Road authorities. |
After the kind and highly
appreciated acknowledgement of the correctness of my conduct in the
frequent necessary interviews with your office, I hasten to ask you to
reconsider your decision, and would not do so but for the fact, that
since writing to you, I learn that the Board of Public Works have
declined to take any further steps in the matter, and as there is a
pressing necessity for a revision of the Tariff, I fear that the
company over which I preside may suffer, mean time, as indeed it is
now. |
I do not think there would be
any indelicacy in your convening the conference, especially as you
appreciate the necessity for a revision of the Tariff. I think whilst
??? movement originated with Mr. Haladay, an ??? of his letter to the
Q. M. Genl amounted to an agreement that you would bring about the
conference. If however after learning this Mr. Haladay declines, you
still feel unwilling to invoke the conference, I must ask you to
permit Mr. Whitcomb to bring our case before you for consideration. |
Very Respectfully |
E. Fontaine Pres |
|
I will call at your office, if you desire. |
