Sir, |
This Company having recently completed, by
the aid of the Govmt, that part of this Rail Road penetrating the
Alabama Coal fields, find it impossible to transport the coal now
being delivered along our line to Selma & Montgomery. We have
secured from Col. Tate, & by purchase, Six Engines. Col. Tate has
one Engine here, the "West Tennessee," which Capt Ross is
willing for us to take provided you authorize the transfer. Be kind
enough to write me upon the receipt of this. Your help upon this
matter -- I would respectfully refer ??? to Maj W. R. Stunh {?}
Chief of Nitre & Mining Bureau, Selma, or to Col. Tate, at
Demopolis, or to Col St John at Richmond as to the necessity of our
having assistance now in the way of Cars & Machinery for the
transportation of Coal & iron. |
Very Respectfully |
