These Articles of Agreement entered into on the 27th
day of March, A. D. 1862, by and between Captain Udolphe Wolfe, Asst. qr
Master of the Confederate States Army on the part of the Government of
the said Confederate States, and J. O. Wheeler, Superintendent of the
San Antonio & Mexican Gulf Rail Road Company. Witness: |
I. That the said Captain Udolpho Wolfe
agrees and binds himself, and his successors in office, as the
representatives of the Government of the Confederate States, for the
considerations hereinafter expressed, to pay to the said Superintendent,
and his successors in office, the sum of Twenty Dollars per diem,
during the continuance of this contract, at such times and in such funds
as may be provided by the Government of the said Confederate States for
that purpose. |
II. That the said Superintendent of the
considerations herein before specified and expressed, agrees and binds
himself and his successors in office, to transport all public stores,
munitions of War, troops, and everything appertaining thereto, for the
said Confederate States, over said Rail Road, at all times when called
upon by said Assistant Quarter Master date the Twenty Seventh day of
March, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty Two, between Capt. Udolpho
Wolfe, Assistant Quarter Master, in the service of the Confederate
States of America, and the said J. O. Wheeler, concerning the
Transportation of troops and public property belonging to the
Confederate States, over the Mexican Gulf and San Antonio Rail Road,
according to the true intent and meaning of the Articles of agreement or
contract, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to
remain in full force and virtue. |
