I have telegraphed to Genl. B. Bragg
that he may take charge of the Selma & Meridian connection. As
the Act of Congress requires the advance to be made to the Ala.
& Miss. {Rivers} R. R. they must
execute the security and receive the money and may disburse it under
Genl. Bragg's orders. They should therefore send on their Mortgage,
properly certified by A. S. Gaines as sufficient and send a special
agent with a power of attorney to receive the money. Unless this is
done delays will still be encountered for which they alone will be
responsible. |
