Has the taking possession of the road
been with the consent of the Ala. & Miss. {Rivers}
R. R. Co. or not? If they object, Genl B. Bragg's order will
be countermanded. I do not understand why in a work of such
importance the mortgage should be trusted to the mail, instead of
being sent on by a special agent, authorized to draw the money. Is
the Co. desirous of carrying out its contract, or does it prefer to
have the road seized by military authority? |
