I am aware of the importance of the
Selma and Meridian connection; have contracted for its completion
with the Ala. & Miss. {Rivers} R.
R. Co. and appointed an agent to superintend it. So soon as the
mortgage contracted for arrives the money will be advanced to the
Company. The Act of Congress requires the work to be done under
contract with the Company and does not authorize the loan on any
other conditions. |
