I would respectfully suggest
that fifty (50) armed men be ordered to report to me to guard the
bridges from Columbia to Charlotte {Charlotte &
South Carolina RR} against local incendiaries there is one bridge
one quarter of a mile long which if destroyed would close this route for
four months. All the bridges on the road from Charlotte to Goldsboro are
guarded by soldiers. |
