| I take leave to call your attention to
the importance of our section of the bridges on the Richmond &
Danville R Road and the necessity for guarding them by a military
force and under military authority. We have watchmen of our own but
they have no authority to make arrests, nor enforce or delay without
understanding the laws. I ask that you will send us these men of any
force or promise to protect & guard these bridges, the preservation
of which has been implied ??? to the transportation of troops and
supplies for the army. |
