Hon. James A. Sedden
Secty. of War C. S.

Sir,
I would respectfully state that Mr. Paul J. Dicken, who was discharged from Service on account of health about a year ago, but has now become liable to Conscription, has been in our employment procuring wood necessary to the operation of this Railroad, and we would desire that he be continued in that capacity, as we are very much in want of wood & Cross Ties urgently necessary to do the Transportation required for the army. Finding it impossible to get a Sufficient Number of Colored hands being near the lines, we are compelled to call for white Laborers. We would also ask that Mr J B Carneal private in Co K 47 Va Regmt, who is now at home Sick, be detailed for the Same purpose, as he has heretofore furnished us a great deal of wood & will again if we can get his Services.
Very Respectfully Yours
Wm. N. Bragg Supt
