Rives, I enclose to you for record, a copy of a letter from the
Secretary of War to Capt. E. T. D. Myers, Supt, authorizing him to
impress sills and laborers for the Piedmont Rail Road; also a copy of
a telegram to Major H. B. Richards Q. M. Greensboro, instructing him
to deal with certain rail road companies which he was authorized to
impress, a substantial quantity of chairs and spikes. |
The letter and telegram were
forwarded last night to their addresses by Col. Rives |

The communication to Capt Myers is dated
April 22nd. Capt. Price took the copy intended for this officer to the
Danville Depot to telegraph it to Capt Myers in case it had not been
already done last night. |
