| Sir, |
| I write to ask the privilege of taking off
on the R. Road any stores for family subsistence that the assignees of
this horrid and brutal war may require. The Central Road
{North Carolina RR} by the way of Raleigh
will be the one chiefly used if any. Also, the privilege of traveling
myself or with my family consisting of white & black without reference
to the Provost Marshall. I am over fifty years of age, and for my
loyalty & character generally, refer to Fr. Governor Morehead, David S.
Aeid, Bragg, Clarke, Manly and Hon. R. L. Bridgers recent a member of
Congress. |
| May the God of battles give our struggling
Countrymen victory, and our suffering Country independence and liberty.
Allow me to include by devoutly hoping that your administration of the
War office may prove honorable to yourself and useful to your Country. |
| With high Respect |
| I remain Dear Sir |
| Your most Obt Sevt |
