| I sent a most urgent Appeal to Capt
Talcott this morning for one of my Clerks in his Company to be
returned to the freight house. He refuses to let him come back. I
dislike to call upon Mr Harvie in this his most trying time. Allow me
to ask you to order him back as I assure you it is impossible for me
to conduct the business successfully to the interest of the government
& the Company. I am to have been for nearly a week working day &
night, have not been in a bed in the time nor have I left the freight
house & this Clerk P. J. Wren is the only man that is competent to
