| Today I enclosed to his Encl the
President a letter recd from Brigd Martin on the condition of the
Piedmont R. R. Tonight I have recd the accompy letter from Genl.
Imboden on the same subject. I am aware that the road is un?? and
???? I have great hope for better things, yet its condition is such
that it will require much attention and from the officers of the
Govt. I think hands had better be put to cutting wood, providing a
supply of water, ditching & ??? the road ????? the trains is in
my opinion necessary. |
