Dr Sir, |
The (200) two hundred hides shipped the
30th of Augt came to hand safe & in good order. I have a lot of
upper leather that has been ready for three weeks to forward to you
but the rail Road agent will not receive it unless it is boxed &
strapped, which I will do if you instruct me to do so, it will cost
the Gov. I think very unnecessarily to box it. I am anxious to send
it, you wrote me in reply to my last, that the R Road would receive it
in Bundles which letter I showed the agt but he positively refused
under instructions he says from the Superintendent of the Road. |
Yours very Respectfully |

Cross. Sole leather is in shipping condition when securely
tied; the lighter kinds such as upper leathers &c must be boxed or
the RRod. Co. cannot be held responsible for loss. |
