| General, |
| On the 30th Decr I had the honor of a
personal interview with you on the introduction of Shepherd Brown Eng.
On which occasion I informed you that the Board of Managers of the
Southern R R Co were anxious to run their trains between Meridian
& Jackson tri weekly instead of daily, and gave you the reasons
for desiring the change. You thought very favorably of the proposition
& did not hesitate to give your verbal approval. I now take the
liberty of presenting the matter in writing, giving the same reasons I
did on that occasion -- to which I request the favor of your official
approval. I have dated the day on which I had the interview. I am
requested by Mr. N. G. Bryson the Secretary & Treasurer of this
Compy to apply to you for a permit for his wife Mrs. Emma Bryson to
pass through our lines to Vicksburg. Mrs Bryson's father died in
Maryland & Dr. Pinekney the fleet surgeon of the Miss river
Squadron, a relative of Mrs B. desires to see his relative to the
business of her father's estate. She is a true Southern lady, & I
hope you will grant her the permit. |
| Yours very Reptfly |
