| Mr. Alex Dudley Presdt of the
{Richmond &} York River R. R. has applied
to me for Military assistance to complete the obstructions of Pamunkey
River at Indianton, about 8 or 10 miles below the RR bridge across the
river, and also to enable him to hold the bridges until the use of the
road can be dispensed with. I have referred him to you on both points as
there are no troops at this place. |
| An Engineer will be sent down as
requested. It will be necessary, in order to communicate with Genl.
Johnston that you send a special messenger. |
