Mr. Gill {E. H. Gill,
Superintendent of the Richmond & Petersburg RR} |
|
Sir, |
You will please let Capt Hudgins have four
(4) of the flats, which have just arrived, to ship the 10 in gun for
Wilmington & the 7 in gun for Charleston. |
These guns have been waiting for about two
(2) weeks, and it is of the greatest importance that they
should be shipped at once. |
Respectfully |
Eugene Carrington |

The flats that are here are wood flats
engaged in transporting wood for the stations and cannot be spared for
any other purpose. I send Col. Wadley's reply to my telegram for flats
and cars. |
The ??y officers took most of our cars
away to North Carolina on 15th Dec. last and have not yet
returned them & we are nearly destitute. |
