Sir, |
I am directed by the President of the
Road, Mr. L. E. Harvie, to inform you that we cannot in future carry convalescents
from the Hospitals on our passenger trains; as we have no right to
expose our passengers to the risk of infection, now that the small pox
is so prevalent in the Government hospitals. It has been recently
arranged for our passenger train to bring convalescents from Danville
on Tuesdays and Fridays of each week, and such an arrangement is the
best, were there no risk of infection, but Mr Harvie now requests that
you will notify us at such times as there is no train load of
convalescents at Danville to be brought from there, and a special
train will be sent. If desirable one day in each week could be
selected and a train runs regularly on those days. |
Please let me hear from you as I shall
have to order our conductor at once,, not to admit convalescents on
the passenger trains. |
