Know all men that I William A. Smith Prest of the Roanoke Valley Rail
Road Company do hereby Constitute and appoint C. W. Purcell my hire
and lawful attorney for me and in my name to receive any money due
this Company for Iron Rails impressed by the Confederate State on the
Keysville extension and belonging to the Roanoke Valley Rail Road
Company, and to receipt for the Sum hereby satisfying & Confirming
all my said attorney may do in the former as fully and as
substantially as if done by myself.
