Mr. {John
R.} McDaniel, Chairman &c has exhibited to me an
application for permission to transport supplies for the families of
Soldiers &c on the Tennessee & Va R. Road {Virginia
& Tennessee RR}. I cheerfully certify that such authority
as requested is reasonable & just; that the great difficulty of
obtaining such supplies in this market renders it absolutely necessary
that they should be purchased on the line of Rail Road mentioned,
without which much suffering to the poor must ensure; and that it
cannot materially, if at all, interfere with the transportation of
supplies for eh Government. |
