Dear Sir, |
Presuming that the missing cars,
containing the iron referred to while in Richmond, were on the
Wilmington & Weldon Rail Road, I did not inquire for them in
Petersburg; but on my arrival at Weldon N. C. I learned from the agent
of the W & W R Rd Co {Wilmington &
Weldon RR} that he had shipped the last car for Petersburg
several weeks since. You may therefor safely calculate that the
missing iron is at Petersburg; as I don't suppose it could have
arrived in Richmond & been received without your knowledge. |
I hope this will lead you to the
whereabout of the iron soon; as you stated you wished to find it
before sending the amount due me which I would like to receive as soon
as is convenient to you. |
Since my arrival home I have conferred
with the person for whom I want the 1000$ bond; and he states that he
is not particular when it is payable leaving it with you to send that
which you consider preferable. |
Please send by express to me at Torboro,
to Care of Capt Robert C. Watson. |
Your obedient servant |
Wm W. Pippen |
