This day personally appeared before the
subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said District, Wm. Underdunk and
made oath that he was in the employment of the Confederate States
under the direction of Capt Thos. R. Sharp A. Q. M. removing Balto
& Ohio Railroad Engines and Materials and to his knowledge Four
impressed Horses died viz: one in Martinsburg in October 1861, one on
Martinsburg and Winchester Turnpike in February 1862 while hauling
Locomotive 226 from Martinsburg, |
One on the North Western Grade near
Romney, hauling supplies to Genl T. J. Jacksons army, in January 1862,
and one at Mount Jackson about the middle of March 1862, in the
performance of the above services and owing to their condition from
hard labor, their ownership could not be identified. |
