Your telegrams were received at 9 am this morning. I
immediately ordered trains to Jackson and telegraphed to General
Adams & Col Ham to have their troops on this side of Pearl river in
time to take the cars {Southern (of
Mississippi) RR} tonight, so as to arrive here at 4 tomorrow
morning when I will have three trains here awaiting them
{Mobile & Ohio RR}, which will I think
be sufficient to take those from Jackson and Enterprise also, and if
all works right I think you may expect them at Tupelo tomorrow
night. |
