The President of the Confederate States |
Montgomery Alabama |
|
Sir, |
Captn J. S. Williams, of Georgia, late of
the Army of the United States, has been employed during the past winter
& current spring as Chief Engineer of the Louisiana Central Stem R. Road
eighty odd miles of which he has located and put under construction, and
having thus given the contractors work ahead for a considerable length
of time, he has asked leave of the Board, of which I am a Director, with
the view of repairing to Montgomery there to offer in person his
services to the Government in any Military capacity commensurate with
his social position & former standing in the Army. |
I believe Captn Williams has given entire
satisfaction here in his Professional course & social relations and that
it will be gratifying to all those who have enjoyed his acquaintance
here that his services should be availed of in some elevated position in
a Staff Corps. |
Very Respectfully |
G. Major Graham |
