Capt. L. H. Lockett will proceed at once to Decatur,
Alabama & indicate to the commanding officer at that Point proper
positions for the defence of the Rail Road Bridge (on
the Nashville & Decatur RR} with such artillery as has been
sent to him.

Capt. Lockett will also decide as to the
best method of destroying the bridge should such destruction become a
necessity, leaving minute instructions, as to the manner, in writing. |
The Bridge must not be destroyed except in
the last extremity. Having performed the duty Capt. Lockett will
return to this place. |
