Georgia has, for twelve months or more supplied about one
half the corn consumed here, the balance being obtained in the lower
Districts of this State, and I think it may be practicable to draw
all the Meal required from Maj Millen, Savannah, and sent to Va all
or a very large proportion of the corn collected in the districts of
Orange Barnwell Edgefield and Newberry. The districts above these
appear to have very little corn, and the whole country on the line
of the Wilmington & Manchester R. R. has been relinquished to the Qr
Master's department. From the neighborhood of Branchville, we can
begin shipments at once, upon receiving your instructions. Can you
assist me with sacks? |
Very respectfully your obedient Servant |
