Sir, |
I succeeded in getting off from Mayfield
on last Saturday & after being waterbound one day on the Road I
arrived with Coln Mattet stores safe on this side of the River There
is a very heavy Flood in the River. the Pontoons together with the
main Cable have all been removed. it commenced raining again on
yesterday & has continued heavy since. The river has risen six
feet higher last night and there is no knowing when we will be able to
cross the river. probable not for a week or two. my Expenses have been
heavy since I left Macon and I am anxious to return. |
Very Respectfully |
