I have the honor to enclose you the report
of arms taken from soldiers crossing Tennessee River at this point,
the largest quantity were taken previous to my having received
"Instructions" many were not taken which you will perceive
in separate report, I would also mention here that the Bridge {on
the Nashville & Chattanooga RR} is finished & trains
are running across. I have no power to stop trains for the purpose of
preventing arms & passing this point. You will please be kind
enough to give me the Instructions required. There is no ordnance
passing here at this time & what does pass goes promptly through. |
