Captain, |
Herewith you have a letter of
instructions from Col. Bradwell respecting the shipment and care of
sugar and molasses at Vicksburg. |
I have to request that you
will furnish me with a statement such as is called for in his letter
at as early a day as possible, and on your arrival ascertain what
quantity has been sent to Charleston Savannah and Telegraph me, and
further keep me regularly advised of the shipments you make. |
In all cases of shipments
beyond this place you will procure a special messenger. Capt. W. O.
Key A. Q. M. will provide for Transportation and the necessary funds.
I would recommend not more than 200 Hhds {a
complete train of 14 cars} be given any one the care of, and
shipments of not less than one hundred. |
I wish 300 Hhds sent to the
Commissary here {by way of the Southern (of
Mississippi) RR}. Capt. Jno. T. Shaaff select such Hhds as
would not likely bear Transportation any great distance, and such a
quantity as Capt. A. Stewart ACS at Vicksburg will want for his post,
you will give him from the most inferior packages. |
Yours Very Respectfully |
