| I take the liberty to five a few lines in favor of
Bentley D. Hasell Esq, late chief Engineer & Superintendent of the
Memphis & Ohio Rail Rd & formerly Chf. Engineer & Supt. of the N.
Orleans & Jackson Rail Rd. Mr. Hasell is desirous of obtaining an
appointment in the Military Engineer Service, and Genl. Cooper informs
me that he thought you would be willing to employ skillful Engineers at
this time. If such be the case Mr. Hasell can furnish you with the
highest recommendations for his ability & integrity in which I can write
most earnestly as Mr. Hasell is a Relative & I have known him well from
his earliest childhood. |
