Dear Sir, |
Your letter with its enclosures came to
hand to day, and I have written to Col. Gorgas and enclosed certified
bills for the Hydraulic Press and cost of taking down & shipping
same. You will please call at his office again and I presume the
amount will be paid you without further delay. |
I regret that your bill was not paid on
presentation, but forgot to say to you at the time in Richmond, that
it would require my certificate to be appended to it as to its
correctness, and as having recd the same. The Press has not come to
hand as yet, and I presume I shall have to send a special messenger
after it, as the Rail Roads nowadays hang fire on all things not
accompanied by an agent. |
Respectfully |

Please send Rail Road Receipt, the enclosed bill is no
receipt as you will perceive, having no signature. Take the receipt to
ordnance office when you go there to receive your pay. |
