Sir, |
The death of Major Ashe
rendering the position of Genl. Superintendent of Transportation of the
Confd States vacant, I beg to introduce to your notice for the position
Captain Morfit as a Gentleman in my opinion eminently qualified. He has
had large experiences in Railroad matters & duties in connection with
his office in the Quartermaster Department here, in addition, his
Gentlemanly bearing and business capacity has rendered him a general &
desired ??its with the Railroad Interests. |
His appointment to the vacancy
caused by Major Ashe's death would, I feel afford general satisfaction
not only to Railroad interests, but also to the Department. |
Very Respectfully Your |
