This day personally appeared before this subscriber a
Justice of the Peace for said District J. E. Duke and made oath that he
was in the employment of the Confederate States, under the direction of
Capt. Thos. R. Sharp, A. Q. M. removing Balto & Ohio Railroad
Engines and Materials and to his Knowledge Two impresses horses died,
viz: one on the 18th November 1861 at Darkesville, and one on the 12th
May 1862 near Waynesboro Va in {page torn} the
above service and owing to their {page
torn} labor their ownership could not {page
torn} before me this16 day of Sept. {page
