Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac Railroad
Company |
President's Office |
Richmond, Va., Aug 7th 1862 |
|
Hon Geo. W. Randolph |
Secretary of War |
|
Understanding that it is
proposed to fill the vacancy created by the withdrawal of Major Ashe
from the position of Quartermaster for Railroad transportation at this
post, I take pleasure in recommending as his successor Capt Morfit, who
for some time past has been performing the duties of the position during
Major Ashe's absence and since his withdrawal. |
To great industry, efficiency
and zeal in behalf of the Government, he has united a practical
appreciation of the capacities and operations of Railroads, with a
courteous deportment towards their officers, which is the best assurance
of his obtaining from them the utmost available assistance to the
Government. |
His appointment will, I doubt
not, be equally satisfactory to the Government and to the Railroad
Companies. |
Very Respectfully |
Your Obdt Sevt |
P. V. Daniel Jr |
Presdt. R. F. & P. R. Rd. Co. |
