It becomes my duty to inform you that three more of the
Employees of the Tex & NO RRoad {Texas &
New Orleans RR} have deserted the Service of the Company, and I
have every reason to believe have gone to the enemy off Sabine.

| I do not consider any of the rail road
bridges in the State Safe without Guards are placed over them; that
there is a communication kept up between the Employees of some of the
Rail Road Companies and the enemy, I have every reason to believe. |
| The Guards were removed from the Bridges
some Six months ago, at which time the Comd'g Genl informed me that
they should in a short time be replaced, but this has not yet been
done. |
