   This day personally appeared before the subscriber D Lauderdale a Justice of the Peace, Wm A. Whitton and made oath that he was in the employment of the Confederate States under Capt Thos R Sharp AQM direction removing Balto & Ohio Railroad Engines and Materials and to the best of his Knowledge and belief Five impressed Horses died, viz: one on Leesburg & Piedmont road in August 1861, one in Winchester in February 1862; two at Harrisonburg on Valley Turnpike in April 1862 and one at Mt Crawford on Valley Turnpike in April 1862, in the performance of the above service and owing to their condition from hard labor their ownership could not be identified.
